I so needed the following truth today from the September 3rd reading of Streams in the Desert. Things are about to crazy up in here….our first out-of-state Wonderfully Made Conference in Oahu, Hawaii (pinch me!) is in less than three weeks! There is so much to be done and as I’m sure you girls can relate when you’re overwhelmed by responsibility, I’m tempted to strive and work myself into the ground.
So this was so timely this Labor Day…
“Straining, driving effort does not accomplish the work God gives man to do. Only God Himself, who always works without strain, and who never overworks, can do the work that He assigns to His children. When the restfully trust Him to do it, it will be well done and completely done. The way to let Him do His work through us is to partake of Christ so fully, by faith, that He more than fills our life.”
It goes on to share one man’s motto: “Not overwork, but overflow.”
So my hope these next few weeks is that I’ll be able to successfully find a fruitful, effective balance between work and rest, trust and action.
What do you think about the motto “Not overwork, but overflow? What does that mean to you?
