When social media has been a big part of your everyday life, stepping away from it can feel disorienting—like you’ve just turned off the background noise you’ve gotten used to living with. All of a sudden, there’s space. Stillness. And a lot of unexpected extra time.

At first, this new silence might feel unsettling, but I want to encourage you—this is a beautiful and sacred opportunity. With intention, this can become a time of renewal, deep joy, and rediscovery. I’ve found that having a gentle daily routine can help you get the most out of this life-giving experience.

Here are some daily habits that can support and inspire you as you embrace a social media reset:

1. Plan Your Week

Before Monday rolls in, take 30 quiet minutes to map out the week ahead. Light a candle. Pour some tea. Ask yourself: What would make this a beautiful and intentional week?

  • Schedule in margin—not just to-dos.
  • Prioritize relationships, not just responsibilities.
  • Include time for rest, movement, creativity, and connection.

When you plan ahead, you’re more likely to live with purpose instead of reacting to the demands of the day.

2. Plan Your Days

Each morning (or the night before), spend a few minutes setting your intentions for the day. It doesn’t have to be rigid—think of it as creating a rhythm, not a checklist.

  • What are 1–3 things that would make today meaningful?
  • What time will you unplug and rest?
  • Who might God be inviting you to love or encourage today?

Planning your day helps you steward your time well—and when you’re not scrolling, you might be surprised how much time you actually have.

3. Set Goals

Use this reset as a chance to dream again. Set small, soulful goals that bring you joy and help you grow.

  • What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn?
  • Is there a habit you want to break—or build?
  • What’s one goal that supports your mental, physical, or spiritual well-being?

Write them down. Keep them visible. Celebrate your progress.

4. Have Time with God

This is the most life-giving rhythm you can cultivate. Without the constant noise of the scroll, you’re creating space to actually hear from God.

  • Start your day with Scripture and prayer.
  • Keep a journal where you talk to Him throughout the day.
  • Sit in silence and simply be with Him.

The time you used to give to social media—give that time to God instead. He’s not looking for perfection, just your presence.

5. Do Something Creative With Your Hands

There’s something healing about using your hands to create something beautiful.

  • Cook a nourishing meal.
  • Try watercolor or pottery.
  • Garden, knit, write in your journal, or build something.

Creativity grounds us. It reconnects us with the real, tangible world—and reminds us of the joy of simply being human.

6. Get Outside

Even 10 minutes of fresh air can change your mood. Nature gently pulls us out of our heads and back into the present.

  • Go for a walk without your phone.
  • Watch the sunrise or sunset.
  • Sit under a tree and just breathe.

Let creation remind you that life is bigger and more beautiful than a screen could ever show you.

7. Daydream

Yes, really. Let yourself stare out the window. Imagine. Wonder. Dream.

  • What does your ideal life look like?
  • What story is God writing with your life?
  • What passions have you buried that might be ready to reawaken?

Without constant input, you get to hear your own thoughts again. Let yourself dream wild and free.

A social media reset isn’t just about quitting something—it’s about making room for more. More peace. More presence. More joy. More God.

Let these simple habits guide you as you rediscover a slower, deeper, and more meaningful way to live. You don’t need to fill every moment. You just need to be present in the ones you’re given.

You’ve got this. One beautiful day at a time. 💛 Make sure to grab a few copies of my book “Social Media Reset” for you and some friends so you can live your best lives off your phone together.

With Joy,

Allie
