{There’s still time to join my online community social media break on Zoom starting August 1st. Sign up here and invite your friends!}
Everywhere I go, I meet girls and women who are hurting, overwhelmed, anxious, lonely, and feeling disconnected from God and others. You’ve probably seen it in your church or community, too. As the Founder and CEO of Wonderfully Made, I’m passionate about helping women and girls discover their God-given worth, embrace vibrant mental health, and live flourishing, purpose-filled lives.
But today, one of the greatest threats to their well-being is social media. It’s robbing them of peace, joy, and genuine connection.
I know this firsthand. After joining social media, I became addicted. It slowly eroded my mental, emotional, and spiritual health until I took a long break. That step brought healing, freedom, and a renewed sense of purpose. It also inspired me to write Social Media Reset: A 30-Day Guided Journey to Unplug, Reconnect with God, and Reclaim Your Joy.
Research indicates that even a brief social media break can reduce stress, enhance happiness, and strengthen relationships. But the real transformation happens in community. When girls and women take this 30-day social media break together, they come out changed—more peaceful, clear-minded, and connected to God and their true identity. And when they walk through it with others, the impact multiplies.
Together, we can help guide girls and women back to the abundant life Jesus offers—a life grounded in truth, presence, and lasting joy.
We don’t need to reject technology entirely—but we do need a reset. A pause. A revival. Imagine what could happen if, for just 30 days, the women in your community were to come together and unplug from social media. That’s the heart behind this 30-day social media break: a joyful return to real life and the presence of God.
Life is more beautiful when we’re not tethered to our devices. My book Social Media Reset leads women through a step-by-step break that helps them reset their souls and re-engage their lives with renewed joy, purpose, and intentionality. It’s also a great journey for moms to take alone or with their daughters and even her friends.
Here are 10 reasons why a social media reset could deeply benefit the women you serve:
1. Cultivate True Friendship and Community
We’re facing a loneliness epidemic. Over half of Americans—52%—say they feel lonely. While social media connects us to more people than ever before, it’s come at the cost of genuine, face-to-face relationships. We’re hyper-connected but deeply isolated.
Girls and women in your church or community are longing for meaningful friendships. A reset creates space for authentic community—unhurried conversations, shared meals, laughter, and connection. It’s an opportunity to build real-life relationships that go deeper than “likes.”
2. Practice Hospitality
Liking someone’s post isn’t the same as inviting them into your life. With phones down, women can rediscover the beauty of hospitality—opening their homes, sharing meals, and creating sacred space. Hospitality becomes an act of worship and a reflection of Christ’s love
3. Heal Mental Health
Social media is fueling a preventable mental health crisis. Girls are at the center of it—suicide rates among teen girls have risen by over 145% since the advent of social media. One in three girls has seriously contemplated suicide. But women are affected, too.
Endless scrolling breeds anxiety, comparison, and restlessness. A social media reset offers immediate relief—boosting happiness, reducing anxiety, and helping women step into the full, vibrant lives God created them for.
4. Reconnect with God
The average person checks their phone over 100 times a day. Constant notifications fragment our attention and pull us away from God. It’s hard to practice solitude, silence, or prayer in a world of noise.
Unplugging allows our spirits to rest. It makes space to hear from God again—to replace scrolling with Scripture, distraction with devotion, and comparison with communion. In the quiet, God speaks.
5. Heal the Brain’s Pathways
Social media platforms were intentionally engineered to be addictive. They prey on our God-given longing to be seen and valued, triggering dopamine hits that alter how our brains function.
A 30-day reset allows the brain to detox—regaining focus, breaking unhealthy habits, and realigning with God’s peace. It’s both a physical and spiritual reset that brings clarity and calm.
6. Practice Spiritual Disciplines
The average adult spends over two hours a day on social media. Imagine if that time was spent in prayer, Scripture, solitude, worship, or journaling.
By replacing screen time with sacred time, women can grow in their walk with Christ and tap into the strength that comes from being deeply rooted in Him.
7. Restore the Soul
C. S. Lewis wrote, “The soul is but a hollow which God fills.” Social media drains our souls—but God restores them.
A social media reset is like Psalm 23 in action: “He makes me lie down in green pastures…He restores my soul.” Women will find renewal, rest, and the joy of simply being rather than constantly consuming.
8. Live Fully in an Embodied Life
We were created not just as souls, but as whole beings—body, mind, and spirit. When we unplug, we become more present to God, His creation, and the people in front of us.
This break helps women re-engage with life: to feel the breeze, savor a meal, laugh with their kids, and fully inhabit the moment. It’s about living as participants, not spectators.
9. Invest in God-Given Gifts
Each woman has unique spiritual and creative gifts. But scrolling can drown them out.
A reset gives space to rediscover and cultivate these gifts—whether it’s creating, teaching, leading, or encouraging. It’s not just about disconnecting; it’s about reconnecting with their purpose.
10. Live a Legacy That Glorifies God
I believe one of the greatest regrets we’ll have at the end of our lives is how much time we spent on our phones.
A reset helps women ask the deeper questions: Am I living for the applause of people or the glory of God? It’s a chance to realign with His purpose, live intentionally, and focus on eternal things.
By inviting the women in your church to take on this 30-day journey together, you’ll give them the opportunity to build deep friendships, strengthen their mental health, reconnect with God, invest in their gifts, and live more purposefully for His glory.

Jesus always offers us a better—though often unpopular, way of life. When we turn our hearts from worthless things and resist the soul-crushing patterns of this world, we find peace. We find joy. And we step into the abundant life God created us for.
