The Most Life-Changing Podcast I’ve Listened to In Years by Dr. Lee Warren

Thanks to Dr. Lee Warren and others like Dr. Daniel Amen, my view of “mental health” and “mental illness” has shifted dramatically, and it gives us SO much hope!

I was invited to be a guest on Dr. Lee Warren’s podcast, Spiritual Brain Surgery. Dr. W. Lee Warren is a neurosurgeon, author, and podcaster who’s on a mission to help people heal mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. He’s also a veteran who served in Iraq and has performed brain surgeries in some of the toughest conditions imaginable.

I wish I had known of his work when I was eighteen and experienced a severe depressive episode, and applied it to my life. But back then, my doctors just prescribed me medication and sent me on my way. I didn’t receive the holistic care I needed to fully heal in body, mind, and soul. So twenty-plus years later, I’m making up for lost time, and because of my relationship with Christ, commitment to renew my mind, and living a healthy, active, and sober lifestyle, I am thriving.

Thanks to Dr. Lee Warren and others like Dr. Daniel Amen, my view of “mental health” and “mental illness” has shifted dramatically, and it gives us SO much hope! I’m now working my way through all his old episodes, in which he talks about faith and neuroscience, and mindset shifts and practical things we can do to transform our minds so we can transform our lives and become the fully alive person God created us to be, and walk in the fullness of joy He offers us.

I hadn’t heard of Dr. Warren’s work until I was invited. We share the same publisher — Tyndale Refresh (I’m still fighting a mean battle of imposter syndrome) which also publishes books by Dr. Daniel Amen, Aundi Kolber, and Curt Thompson. See why I feel like someone doesn’t belong there? 🤣

Ever since I have been binge-listening to as many episodes as possible. Today, on my morning walk with Gidget, I put my earbuds in and listened to this episode titled, “Devil or Diagnosis: Unraveling the Complexities of Mental Health.” This is a must-listen!

He teaches something he calls Self-Brain Surgery. It’s SO fascinating! It’s about rewiring your brain by changing the way you think. He explains how our brains can form new pathways when we take our thoughts captive (just like the Bible says) and replace negative thinking with truth. It’s all backed by science, especially the idea of neuroplasticity—how our brains are always changing based on what we think, feel, and believe.

Subscribe to his podcast! And soon, you’ll see my interview with him.

With Joy,

Allie
