Our Big Sur Thanksgiving

The most beautiful places usually take hard work, but it’s always worth it.

This year, instead of heading North to Santa Cruz and San Jose for Thanksgiving to see my family, we went up to San Simeon, a sleepy beach town north of Cambria and below the famous Hearst Castle. We have a favorite dog-friendly hotel and treated ourselves to Thanksgiving dinner at their restaurant. We found a hidden beach, scored some fun waves, and had it all ourselves. Our dear friend Dan joined us for a day. It was an unplugged weekend — the best weekends are. The most beautiful places usually take hard work, but it’s always worth it. Here are some photos from our adventure. I think we might make it our new Thanksgiving tradition.
